Building Project (Dedicated To The Lord In Memory Of Lindsey Riggs)

When the Lord blesses a church like Royal Baptist, He does it in a huge way. With membership of over 800 people, it was time to grow the building. And that’s exactly what’s He’s been doing. You may have noticed the transformation if you have been attending Royal for the past 2 ½ years. You probably remember the empty lot, the landscaping, the cement being poured, the exterior walls and roof coming up, and thought, “What’s going on?” That’s an easy one to answer. The Lord is expanding His church.

Visions of a full basketball court, a large fellowship hall, more Sunday School rooms, a ladies’ quilt room, and a portable stage for performances is just the beginning of what the Lord has in store for this new building. Can you imagine the impact this could have on our community and the souls that could be saved? The Lord knows what He is doing.

Coleman Lassetter has been in charge of this committee since the very beginning and has had the help of Les Shaneyfelt, Tyrone Power, Hubert Smith, Bob Jones, and many others in accomplishing their goals. The main construction projects have been placed in the trusting hands of Mark Riggs of Riggs Construction (brother of Rodney Riggs) and from the looks of the progress, Mark has been doing an excellent job.

As of January 18, 2007, there are still things that need to be done in order to meet the completion date of March 1, 2007. Currently, inspections need to be completed, sheetrock walls and doors need to be hung, and painting, carpet and other miscellaneous items will also need to be performed. It’s been a slow process, but patience has its rewards.
